US-Russia relations are at a low point. Today, the State Department said that the US ambassador to Russia, John Sullivan, will be returning to the United States this week. In his statement, Ambassador Sullivan said he would like to speak with the Biden administration “about the current state of bilateral relations between the United States and Russia.” The decision comes just a week after the US and Russia exchanged sanctions and Russia advised Sullivan to return to Washington for “consultations.” Host Marco Werman speaks with former US ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul.
