US ramps up stance on South China Sea 

On Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo released a statement underlying the US stance on the South China Sea. He stated that the US rejects most Chinese maritime claims in the area. The statement is largely a symbolic challenge to Beijing, but Pompeo did say that China won’t be allowed to treat the strategic waters as ‘its maritime empire.’ Host Carol Hills speaks with Bonnie S.
