Trevor Reed has been in a Russian prison for more than a year now. In late July, Reed was sentenced to nine years in a Russian penal colony. The court convicted him of assaulting two police officers, but in the trial, the police presented virtually no evidence. US officials suspect that Reed is being used as a political bargaining chip.
