It’s been six months since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. But for many Ukrainian veterans, this is not their first stint of fighting on the front lines against Russian forces. Back in 2014, when Russia first invaded Ukraine, Yekaterina Pryimak and Viktor Pylypenko both joined the military. Now, eight years later, they’re both back, helping Ukraine’s armed forces. Pryimak is training newly enlisted medics and Pylypenko is on the front lines in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine. The World’s Daniel Ofman reports.
