The United Kingdom is officially in a recession. That was the gloomy prognosis today by the Office for Budget Responsibility, an independent fiscal watchdog in the UK. The announcement came as UK Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced tough new budget measures, including spending cuts and tax hikes. The new fiscal plan will be seen as a test for Rishi Sunak, Britain’s third prime minister this year. The World’s Europe correspondent Orla Barry discussed with host Marco Werman.
