Tunisia’s constitutional referendum — put forward by the country’s president — has passed. Despite the low turnout and controversy, President Kais Saied declared victory and called the new constitution’s passing a “historic moment.” The World’s Marco Werman spoke with Mohamed-Dhia Hammami, a Tunisian PhD student at Syracuse University, about the new constitution and what it means for Tunisia’s democracy.
