Trump administration bans cotton and tomato imports from China’s Xinjiang province

On Thursday, the Trump administration took another step in cracking down on some of China’s worst human rights practices. It has banned imports of cotton and tomatoes from China’s Xinjiang region based on evidence of forced labor. Human rights groups around the world have estimated that 1 in 5 cotton garments sold worldwide have a connection to forced labor of Uighur people in Xinjiang.
