Trawling may cause as much carbon emissions as airplanes, says study

A new study out in Nature says trawling — fishing that scrapes the bottom of the ocean —  causes as much carbon emissions as global aviation. Conserving a greater portion of the ocean is essential to solving the problem, according to the study. The World’s Marco Werman speaks to Enric Sala, director of National Geographic’s Pristine Seas project.
