Many parents in the US are sometimes forced to miss work, cut back on hours or even quit their jobs because they can’t find or afford quality child care. The problem is made worse because of a child care worker shortage across the US, as more skills are being required of them. The World’s Marnette Federis visited a class in Portland, Oregon, that’s trying to address the shortage and the hurdles faced by immigrants who want to enter this workforce.
