Top EU scientist resigns from research council

As the coronavirus began spreading across Europe, the EU was criticized for not acting vigorously enough to set up a coordinated response, and for leaving the responsibility to national governments. Disappointed with the EU’s response to the virus, the bloc’s head scientist, Mauro Ferrari, announced his resignation from the European Research Council last week. He tells The World’s host Marco Werman about why he left.
