There are 2.5 million ants for each person on planet Earth. That’s what a team of scientists at the University of Hong Kong determined after researching the question. Their new study, out this week in the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, details the global distribution of ants and discusses their vast importance to life on Earth. The World’s Marco Werman speaks to the study co-author, insect ecologist Sabine Nooten.
