A few years ago, Adrian Quesada formed the new band called Black Pumas that revived some of the psychedelic sounds created in places like Mexico, Colombia and Peru in the ’60s and ’70s. On his latest offering, Quesada has also layered other influences on top of the Latin psychedelic sound. There’s hip-hop and the Tex-Mex sounds he grew up with living along the US-Mexico border, as well as an abiding respect for the sounds of 1970s Italian film scores.
