The global teacher shortage will hurt development goals

UNESCO conducted a global analysis of the teaching profession and found that there is a shortfall of 44 million teachers. The shortage is most acute in sub-Saharan Africa, where it is most difficult to meet sustainable development goals. The World’s Carol Hills talks with Fernando Reimers, a professor of international education at Harvard University, about the story of teachers, what they go through, and what the shortfall means for global education.
