China’s Belt and Road Initiative invests trillions of dollars around the globe on infrastructure, transportation and energy projects in more than 130 countries. And while the investments are welcomed by some, the environmental impacts can be troubling. Jingjing Zhang is an environmental lawyer based in the US. She speaks to The World’s Carol Hill about her nongovernmental organization, China Accountability Project, that helps communities around the world clean-up or oppose Chinese projects that create pollution.
