Telling the stories of Japanese-Americans detained during the war

The World

Maggie Ishino is a 93-year-old columnist at Rafu Shimpo, a small newspaper that’s covered the Japanese-American community in Los Angeles for more than a century. The stories they cover include the mass incarceration of Japanese-Americans in World War II. That’s Maggie Ishino’s own story, too. Daniel Gerson reports.
