Taliban bans women from NGOs

Afghanistan’s Taliban government has banned NGOs, or nongovernmental organizations, from employing women. NGOs largely work in Afghanistan’s aid sector and need women to conduct their operations. This also follows the ban on women’s higher education across the country. The World’s Marco Werman spoke with Hassan Abbas, a professor at National Defense University, about what the international community can do to pressure the Taliban to reverse course on women’s rights in Afghanistan.
