Nureldin Satti was appointed Sudan’s ambassador in Washington last year. On Thursday, the military in Sudan announced that Satti and other ambassadors were fired. Satti says he will “resist the military coup” back home. The Sudanese military seized control of the government in Khartoum on Monday, detaining top government officials. The move was denounced by the Biden administration, which has paused $700 million in US aid for the country. The World’s Africa correspondent Halima Gikandi speaks with Ambassador Satti.
