Sri Lanka’s economy begins to stabilize

Sri Lanka’s currency is gaining strength, inflation is starting to slowly tick downward and the daily power cuts and long lines to buy gasoline are a thing of the past. The first tranche of funding from the International Monetary Fund was transferred into government coffers late last month. But after the island nation’s economic and political collapse last summer, prices for electricity and fuel, as well as rates of food insecurity, are still high. The World’s Carolyn Beeler reports on where the country stands on the road to economic recovery.
