Sri Lanka’s new president, 73-year-old Ranil Wickremesinghe, was sworn in today, coming in with decades of government experience. What he doesn’t have, though, is a lot of support among protesters. They’ve been in the streets for months now, calling for new leadership as the country faces economic turmoil and severe shortages of basic goods. Sri Lankan protesters ousted the previous president last week. And now they’re taking aim at the new leader, calling for him to resign, too. The World’s Carolyn Beeler reports from the main protest camp in Colombo.
