Sports often create a pathway out of difficult circumstances for young kids. That was true for Sam Jalloh, a tennis pro from Sierra Leone. The World’s host Marco Werman spoke with him last fall as Jalloh was watching fellow countryman Frances Tiafoe reach success at international tournaments. Jalloh recounts how tennis helped him avoid conscription as a child solider in his memoir, “How Tennis Saved My Life.”
