This week, serious flooding hit communities on Australia’s east coast once again. It’s the second time in a month that heavy rains caused rivers to rise and people to head for higher ground. Hardest hit have been the popular surfing city Byron Bay and the nearby Lismore. Carol Hills spoke with Margaret Cook, a historian and author of the book, “A River with a City Problem: A History of Brisbane Floods,” and learned that the flood historian experienced some flooding of her own.
