From Ukraine to Syria, Mali and Sudan, one of the ways Russia exerts its power across continents is through mercenaries known as the Wagner Group, with strong ties with Russia’s military. Just last week, the European Union sanctioned the organization saying that it’s “responsible for serious human rights abuses … include torture … executions and killings.” Host Marco Werman speaks with Michael Weiss, the news director with the online publication New Lines magazine, where he recently wrote an investigative report about the Wagner Group.
