At colleges and universities, Eastern European, Slavic and Central Asian humanities and political science departments have long centered their scholarship on Russia. And in order to get a job in these departments, you had to have studied Russian and Russian history. That left out scholars who focus on Ukraine. Daniel Ofman reports that with the war in Ukraine, academic departments in the US and the UK are beginning to hire people with a primary interest in Ukraine.
