Russian lawyer, Alexei Navalny, who was clear-eyed about the dangers in prison, has died

Russia’s government prison system announced on Friday that Alexei Navalny has died. He was Vladimir Putin’s top political opponent, whom Russian intelligence previously tried to assassinate with a Soviet-era poison. The World’s Carolyn Beeler talks with Michael McFaul, a former ambassador to Russia and friend of Navalny’s about what his death means for the country and for his family.
