Reflections on Ukraine’s flooded desert

Oleshky Sands National Nature Park, the second-largest expanse of sand in Europe, was at least partly flooded by the bursting of the Kakhovka dam in Ukraine last week. We hear from Andriy Filin, a trail runner who has helped organize races in the Sands, about why the place is so special, and what it means to be cut off from places you love during wartime.
