Recovering from Typhoon Rai

The World

The Philippines have been hit with 15 typhoons this year. Typhoon Rai, which made landfall on Dec. 16, was by far the worst, compared by many to the 2013 Cyclone Haiyan, which killed 6,300 people. But because Filipinos in the path of Typhoon Rai followed evacuation plans, just hundreds of people died. Still, the destruction from Rai is massive, and recovery will take months. Host Marco Werman speaks with Brenda Barton, the United Nations’ World Food Program country director for the Philippines about the emergency response that’s now in its second week.
