Putin hosts African leaders in St. Petersburg

Russian President Vladimir Putin told African leaders gathered for a summit in St. Petersburg today that his government would provide grain shipments to six African nations for free. The plan is to help prevent a food shortage caused by Putin’s decision to pull out of the Black Sea Grain Initiative last week. “We are taking maximum efforts to avert a global food crisis,” Putin said.
