Robert Frank, one of the world’s most influential documentary photographers and filmmakers, died Monday. Frank was best known for his seminal 1958 book, “The Americans,” which captured the lives of everyday Americans from the Swiss-born artist’s nuanced, outsider point of view. The World’s Marco Werman talks to Sarah Greenough, senior curator and head of the department of photographs at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
