Opening the door to Chinese investment can come with risks

Southeast Asian nations are getting a big boost from China. Across the region, Chinese state-run companies are investing in lots of infrastructure projects – ports, train lines, and real estate. And in Cambodia, Chinese investment has helped create tens of thousands of jobs and strengthen the economy. But opening the door to investment from China also comes with risks.
