One month since India’s lockdown in Kashmir

The World

Last month India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi revoked special rights from the region of Kashmir, called Article 370. To avoid wide-spread protests, India imposed a lockdown on the Muslim-majority valley. It’s a sensitive topic because Article 370 guaranteed significant autonomy to the region. It’s contested by India and Pakistan, two neighboring countries that have fought several conflicts over it. Host Marco Werman speaks with Vasuki Shastry, an associate fellow of the Asia-Pacific program at Chatham House, about what has happened a month later.
