Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus receives jail sentence in Bangladesh

Bangladeshi economist Muhammad Yunus was once lauded for creating a system of low-cost loans for the world’s poorest. Now, the 83-year-old Nobel laureate is facing six months of jail time. A court sentenced Yunus for violating Bangladesh’s labor laws. The World’s host Carolyn Beeler speaks to Ali Riaz, professor of political science at Illinois State University. As Riaz explains, justice isn’t necessarily the goal of the conviction.
