National Prison Radio features the writings of inmates

Brenda Birungi from South London was sent to jail at age 21 for fighting in a nightclub. Writing poetry was her form of coping. Upon release, she got involved in poetry readings, and then joined National Prison Radio (NPR), hosting a show featuring the writings of inmates. It’s just one of many of NPR’s offerings, from prison news to rock ‘n’ roll. Jon Fasman of “The Intelligence” podcast, reports on National Prison Radio, the first nationwide broadcast of its kind in the world.
