‘My country is under occupation right now’

Trainloads of Russian troops have been entering Belarus, leading residents to worry the war in Ukraine is widening. President Alexander Lukashenko says he ordered his soldiers to deploy with Russian soldiers on his country’s border with Ukraine as a purely defensive measure. But Franak Viačorka, the chief political adviser to opposition leader Sviatlana Tsihanouskaya, says Russian President Vladimir Putin needs Belarus as a base to launch missiles at Ukraine.
