In Sudan, demonstrations against the military are continuing nationwide after the military took power in a coup in October, deposing civilian Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, and arresting countless officials. While Hamdok was reinstated in a widely unpopular deal, he now faces the challenge of creating a new government after a wave of resignations by government officials. Over the weekend, Yasir Arman, a former rebel leader with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, resigned in a public letter. He was serving as a political adviser to the prime minister and spent weeks in detention following the coup. The World’s Halima Gikandi recently spoke with him at his office in Khartoum.
