Egypt’s economy is in a downward spiral. The currency is quickly losing its value. Inflation is also making ordinary goods like chicken and other meat unaffordable for many Egyptians. And some banks have placed limits on cash withdrawals. The World’s host Carol Hills spoke with Mirette Mabrouk, director of the Egypt Program at the Middle East Institute, about the factors behind the economic free-fall and what can be done to reverse course.
