In January 2018, the Trump Administration instituted a policy known as “Last In, First Out,” by which more recent asylum applicants have their cases processed before those submitted years ago. The idea is to address a long backlog of asylum cases by quickly eliminating frivolous or fraudulent cases. But people who have already been waiting years to get asylum now face further uncertainty.
