George Clooney, Ellen DeGeneres and other celebrities have called for the boycott of the Dorchester Collection, a luxury hotel chain owned by Brunei. Brunei this week enacted new anti-LGBTQ laws that would make gay sex punishable by stoning to death. LA officials have also joined in the boycott, including Karina Samala, the chair of the Transgender Advisory Council in LA, who is known as ‘Mother’ to the trans community there. Host Marco Werman speaks with Samala, a trans woman originally from the Philippines, about her call for the boycott and her thoughts about the violent anti-LGBTQ laws.
