Jamaica shares the US’s history of colonialism and slavery, and also has one of the highest current rates of fatal police shootings. Activists there say residents tolerate abusive policing because they need protection from high levels of violent crime. They’re trying to understand how to use the global movement for police accountability to address Jamaica’s problems. The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports.
