Sheikh Jarrah is the small neighborhood in East Jerusalem that has been in the headlines for months now. At the center, a drawn out court case — a microcosm of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It started with an eviction notice against four Palestinian families, but it quickly become a lightning rod for a harsh battle over history, land rights and national identity. Today, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled that Palestinian residents will receive “protected status” and will not be evicted in the coming years.
