Israeli military personnel are joining anti-government protests

Air force pilots took part in a rare rebuke of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his Cabinet, and a planned judicial overhaul that could eliminate checks and balances in Israel’s government. They threatened not to show up to training exercises. This rattled politicians and exposed a national security threat emanating from the social distress and political crisis in Israel. The World’s Marco Werman talks to Matti Friedman, an Israeli infantryman who is now a journalist, about what’s going on in the Israeli military and society.
