Iran’s president tours Latin America to strengthen ties against US

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has been on a five-day tour to visit fellow US adversaries Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba. All four countries have dealt with US sanctions. Raisi is in Nicaragua today and said during the trip that the West must respect independent countries. Cynthia Arnson discussed this trip with The World’s host Marco Werman. She’s a distinguished fellow at the Wilson Center’s Latin America program in Washington.
