Intercepted messages reveal Russian soldiers’ state of mind

The World

Audio intercepts are revealing what Russian soldiers have to say about fighting in Ukraine. The intercepts — obtained by the Associated Press — show an increasing number of soldiers want to get out of Ukraine. They also speak of the dead and wounded, and about those seeking to desert the battle. Host Marco Werman speaks with AP reporter Erika Kinetz about what these messages tell us about the morale of the Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
