In Sri Lanka, the possible start of a global debt crisis

On Tuesday, the death toll in Sri Lanka rose to eight amid clashes between anti-government and pro-government protesters. The wave of violence follows the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The resignation is part of the fallout from the country’s current debt crisis. But some experts fear it’s just the first major crisis of its kind. And it’s connected to the war in Ukraine. The World’s Marco Werman spoke with Richard Kozul-Wright, director of the globalization and development strategies division at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
