Iconic Cairo houseboats are under threat

A battle has been brewing between Egyptian authorities and the owners and residents of some 30 houseboats that dot the banks of the Nile river in Cairo. This week, the fight has come to a head after the authorities began destroying some of the houses. Critics say that these are people’s homes and that they’re part of Cairo’s cultural heritage, which must be preserved. The World’s Shirin Jaafari reports.
