Human voices shown to frighten animals in the wild

A study in South Africa has found that humans cause more fear in wild mammals than the sound of lions. The World’s Carol Hills speaks with University of Western Ontario biologist, Liana Zanette. She documented how 19 species of mammals on the South African savanna, from the smallest antelope to the largest elephant, would flee at the sound of a human speaking at a conversational level.
