Billionaire hedge fund pioneer Michael Steinhardt surrendered 180 stolen objects worth $70 million and has been barred for life from buying antiquities. This comes after a four-year, multinational investigation found that his illegal purchases had been smuggled from 11 countries, trafficked by 12 illicit networks and ended up in the international art market without proper paperwork. Marco Werman speaks with forensic archaeologist Christos Tsirogiannis of the University of Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies in Denmark, who played a key role in identifying the stolen objects.
