Today is Victory Day in Russia and other nations of the former Soviet Union, when people celebrate the anniversary of the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945 after four years of horrific war. The scale of sacrifice in the Soviet Union dwarfed losses among Western nations in World War II, including the United States. But today the memory has been co-opted by the state apparatus of Vladimir Putin. Host Carol Hills speaks with writer and journalist Natalia Antonova.
