Haiti is facing mounting challenges amid food and fuel shortages, violence in the streets, and journalists who are critical of the government being targeted. Last weekend it was the police, and now today it’s the health workers who are on strike. Massive protests, now in their seventh week, are demanding that the country’s president step down over corruption allegations and an inability to address humanitarian and safety concerns. Magalie Dresse is a business owner in Port au Prince whose building was destroyed in a fire set at one of the protests. Host Carol Hills speaks with her about the situation, how she’s building back her life, and the changes she wants for Haiti.
