Germany places far-right AfD party under surveillance 

Fighting extremism, white supremacy, and fringe violent movements has become a priority here in the US, especially since the Jan. 6 Capitol breach. German officials are trying to combat similar problems in their country. On Thursday, German intelligence placed the Far-Right Alternative for Germany Party under surveillance for extremism. The AfD party is entrenched in German politics. It has scores of representatives in parliament, but it also has extremist elements — ties with neo-Nazis and other radical far-right groups. Host Carol Hills talks with Nicholas Potter, who researches the German far-right at the Amadeu Antonio Foundation in Berlin.
