German leader apologizes for colonial rule in Tanzania

Germany’s president Frank-Walter Steinmeier met descendants of a Tanzanian chief — Songea Mbano — who led a revolt against German rule in 1906. Steinmeier told some of his descendants today, “As German president, I would like to apologize for what Germans did to your forefathers.” The World’s Marco Werman has more.
